It is impossible for those at Salisbury Pewter to be deaf to the whispering of their heritage. They bring you the Carolina Pewter Cups designed in the unique image of colonial pewter beakers. With the introduction of the Carolina Collection, Salisbury hopes to focus new attention on the Pewterers of the Carolinas and gain support in finding lost samples of their work.
Because there were so few Carolina Pewterers and, as history suggests, so much of their work was lost during the Civil War, few pieces of Carolina Pewter are known to exist today. Almost certainly, there are some pieces of Carolina Pewter which are yet to be identified. Of particular interest is the lack of known holloware, as they can find no surviving cups, beakers, tankards and the like.
Please check your pewter for the marks of these almost forgotten craftsmen. If you believe you have located a piece of Carolina Pewter or pewterer's tools, please contact Salisbury, Inc.
