Truly a southern tradition, the simple and elegant Julep Cup appeared in a variety of forms throughout the early South.
The Mississippi Julep Cups were inspired by the work of George MacPherson, working in Natchez, circa 1850, who was perhaps the most prolific and successful of the early Mississippi silversmiths.
Natchez seems to have been the gateway to Mississippi in the early 1800s and provided us with a good quantity of early silver.
