The elegant Julep Cup, long a favorite among Southerners, has a well-deserved place in the history of Southern craftsmanship.
The Tennessee Julep Cups, inspired by the work of Campbell and Donigan working in Nashville from 1839 - 1855, reflects the contrasts of early Tennessee life...bountiful and at the same time elegant in their simplicity.
As recently as 1970 it was thought by many that there were only four Tennessee silversmiths prior to 1850. We now know of at least fifty, most of whom have no known surviving examples of their work..but the search continues.
